Free Weekly Music & Movement Class in Term 4 from Keys of Life
Who: 3–5 year olds with disability and/or who are neurodivergent
Where: Burwood Heights Uniting Church
When: Tuesday mornings. Two classes at 9:30-10 am and 10:30-11 am, each followed by a cuppa for the grown ups
Starting: Tuesday 6 October, running weekly during term time through to Tuesday 15 December
Class Sizes: Small class sizes - capped at 10 - so every child can participate
What happens in the class?
Each class is 30 minutes of music-filled movement fun! Exercises are thoughtfully designed to support children's fine and gross motor development, with each activity set to its own catchy song. It's a joyful, inclusive space where every child can participate, explore and shine.
You stay in the room with your child the whole time. Join in, sit nearby or watch from the sidelines - whatever works for you and your child on the day.
Afterwards there's a cuppa for parents and carers. Stay for five minutes or twenty, if it suits. It's an easy way to meet other families, or to chat with Daphne and ask any questions you might have.
What if my child is unsettled?
That's completely normal. Every child is unique, and is supported to go at their own pace. It can take a while for kids to get used to a new environment, and that's OK. Daphne is an experienced educator who can respond sensitively to make children in the class feel comfortable.
Term 4 Class Schedule
Weekly classes will run in two sessions at 9:30 am and 10:30am on Tuesday mornings during Term 4. Enrol in the time slot that suits you. Classes begin on Tuesday 6 October.
Who runs the class?
Daphne Proietto OAM will lead the Music & Movement class. Daphne has been teaching students with diverse learning needs and disabilities for more than 25 years. Through Keys of Life, she has also trained more than 400 music teachers in inclusive methods to help each child access their unique abilities and shine.
The Keys of Life foundation fosters inclusive education for children with diverse learning needs, and brings children together to make music. Since 2017, Keys of Life has offered courses for music teachers. We also put on concerts and run social music groups to create supportive performance and social spaces for young musicians with disability and/or who are neurodivergent.
