About
Part Two - Moral Injury: enhancing our intervention with Jesse WintersSaturday April 17th 9.30am - 11.00am (AEDT)
Moral injury can arise when a person’s actions, experiences or circumstances conflict deeply with their values and sense of what is right. It may involve guilt, shame, grief, anger or a loss of trust, and can be challenging to recognise and accompany well.
In this session, we will explore moral injury and its relevance for spiritual directors. We will consider the range of available approaches and training pathways, what current evidence suggests, and where spiritual direction may sit alongside other forms of support.
The session will also explore signs that may point to moral injury, how it can overlap with experiences such as grief, and the importance of careful discernment. Particular attention will be given to working with guilt, including why a well-intentioned impulse to reassure may not always be helpful.
This professional development opportunity will offer practical insight, thoughtful reflection and guidance for accompanying people with sensitivity and care.
