Free Swing Dance Night — Oyster Bay, Sutherland Shire

About
The Shire finally has its own swing scene.
Until now the nearest Lindy Hop class to the Sutherland Shire was in Newtown — forty-five minutes each way on a weeknight. From Monday 19 October there’s one in Oyster Bay, with a six-week course following in Como.
This first night is free.
Here’s what happens. You turn up at seven and someone takes your name. For twenty minutes everyone learns the same basic step — you’ll have it inside ten. Then the NSW Lindy Hop champions dance for us. Then we teach a bit more, and everybody dances until quarter to nine.
You don’t need a partner. We rotate all night, so you’ll dance with everyone in the room and nobody sits out. You don’t need to know a single step. Wear whatever you’d wear to the pub, and flat shoes you can turn in.
Come on your own if you like — most people do, and you’ll know six names by eight o’clock.
The hall has a proper sprung timber floor, a stage, and parking out front.
Monday 19 October, 7:00–8:45pm at the Oyster Bay Community Hall.
Free
What comes next: six Mondays in Como from 26 October, finishing with a real swing dance on Saturday 5 December. We’ll tell you about it on the night — there’s no obligation at all, and you’re welcome to just come and dance.
Brian teaches the classes. Emma and I are the current NSW Lindy Hop champions and are performing on the night as our guests.
