In an era where user comfort and well-being take centre stage, understanding the role of static (reactive) pressure care mattresses is essential. This session explores how reactive support surfaces redistribute pressure and support individuals at risk of pressure injury. Participants will develop practical knowledge to support clinical decision-making and improve user comfort in a variety of care settings.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

Develop a solid understanding of the fundamentals of pressure care, including the physiological impact of immobility and how static (reactive) mattresses assist with pressure redistribution.
Explore different types of static pressure care surfaces, their design features, and how they support pressure injury prevention and comfort.
Strengthen clinical reasoning skills when selecting static mattresses based on individual user needs, considering factors such as mobility, risk level, care environment, and overall comfort.
