Our next brochure in the self-guided Heritage Tours series is Braddon. So come along to this early suburb to discover many Canberra ‘firsts’ – in design, landscaping, manufacturing, schools and churches from hostels to luxury hotels.Named after Tasmanian politician Sir Edward Braddon, the suburb was gazetted in 1928 and as you will note along the way had been part of a larger Ainslie district. Hence by the time Braddon was established several buildings had already been named ‘Ainslie’ such as the schools and Ainslie Hotel.
The walk is 3.5 km with many sites of interest along the way.
Meeting point: Corner of Cooyong and Mort Streets. Parking suggestion in large outdoor parking entry from Genge and Narellan Sts.
