About

Find the extraordinary in the ordinary.
Haiku are brief poems that capture a moment in time.
They celebrate the ordinary and invite us to see the world with fresh eyes.

Explore the spirit and craft of Haiku with examples and discussion, in this presentation from Rob Scott and the Melbourne Fringe Myrtles Haiku Group.

Rob Scott is an author and poet. In 2015 he received a Masters of Research from Victoria University, Melbourne, with a dissertation titled “The History of Australian Haiku and the Emergence of a Local Accent,” later presenting his research to the Second International Haiku Conference in Kraków, Poland. His haiku have been published widely and anthologized in A New Resonance 10, three Red Moon anthologies, Haiku 21, and Haiku Down Under Anthology. Scott published two chapbooks in Wim Lofvers’s Radijs/Radish series in the Netherlands as well as two full-length collections, both in 2016: Out of Nowhere: Haiku and Senryu and Down to the Wire: Footy Haiku.
