About

As part of Connecting Country's Community Led Resilience Project, we are offering heavily subsidised Chainsaw Training for Women and Gender Diverse People over two Sundays in November. Designed specifically for women and gender diverse participants in a supportive and inclusive learning environment, the training will be delivered by two qualified trainers and will focus on;

Safe operation and maintenance of chainsaws.
Essential Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, hazard identification and risk management.
Chainsaw components, routine maintenance, chain sharpening and pre-start inspections.
Correct fuel mixing, refuelling procedures and equipment care.
Develop confidence using safe cutting techniques for cross-cutting fallen timber.
Receive practical instruction in safe handling, starting, carrying and transporting chainsaws.
Practice effective communication, worksite awareness and emergency procedures.
Combination of classroom theory and hands-on practical training, one day of theory and another using the chainsaws.

Suitable for beginners, the course offers learning in a small group with plenty of individual support and coaching.

The training will be conducted in a real outdoor setting in beautiful Fryerstown, providing practical experience.

BYO snacks, lunch and water bottle.
Please note appropriate clothing and footwear is required to be worn by participants for the practical day of the course.
