About

Pressure injury prevention (PIP) and management require more than awareness of risk. In practice, clinicians are often balancing skin integrity, posture, comfort, mobility, function, equipment access, funding requirements, care environments, support networks and the person’s own goals.

This year’s Stop the Pressure Day has been designed to reflect that clinical complexity. Moving beyond a traditional seminar format, this year’s program brings together expert discussion, practical assistive technology education and diverse sector perspectives with a shared purpose: to raise awareness, strengthen clinical practice and contribute to reducing the prevalence of pressure injuries across care settings.

The day will include two panel discussions.

Panel 1
The first panel will bring together voices from across the PIP journey, including experienced nursing practice, manufacturer-led innovation, practical assistive technology expertise and lived experience. By connecting perspectives that are rarely heard together, the discussion will explore our shared responsibility in preventing pressure injuries, providing participants with a broader appreciation of how clinical expertise, innovation, education and lived experience each contribute to better PIP and a shared vision of reducing the prevalence of pressure injuries.

Panel 2
The second panel will focus on service navigation and funding pathways, including practical considerations across hospital, residential aged care, Support at Home and NDIS systems. With ongoing changes across funding, this discussion will explore common pain points, including equipment access, approval pathways, timing, and the practical realities of implementing PIP recommendations across different settings.

Between the panel discussions, participants will take part in hands-on assistive technology sessions focused on sleep support surfaces, seating and shower commodes. These practical sessions are designed to move beyond theory, allowing participants to explore how equipment features, set-up and clinical application can influence pressure management, postural support, function, and meaningful participation. Discussion will be grounded in real-world considerations, including the person’s presentation, goals, environment, support needs and the practical demands of everyday care.

Through clinical discussion, practical exploration and shared experience, participants will strengthen their reasoning around PIP planning, assistive technology prescription and service access.

Join us on Worldwide STOP Pressure Injury Day for an exclusive two-part seminar to improve your expertise in pressure injury prevention, treatment, and management through advanced knowledge and assistive technology innovations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss how diverse clinical, industry and lived experience perspectives contribute to pressure injury prevention and management
  • Apply PIP principles when considering assistive technology solutions to optimise PIP, function and participation
  • Explore practical considerations for sleep support surfaces, seating and shower commodes in PIP planning
  • Identify key service access and funding considerations across hospital, residential aged care, Support at Home and NDIS systems
