About

An Afternoon with Tyler Arcari
Join composer, educator and clinician Tyler Arcari for an engaging and practical afternoon of professional learning designed for music educators and ensemble directors.

Featuring two thought-provoking sessions, Tyler will explore the foundations of successful ensemble programs — from building a culture that attracts and retains students, to developing rehearsal practices that set ensembles up for musical success.

Build It, then Keep It!
Recruitment and retention are often treated as separate challenges, but they are closely connected to the culture of a music program. Students need to see something they want to be part of — and, once they are there, experience something worth staying for. This session explores practical ways to build an ensemble culture that inspires students to join, engage and remain involved.

The End is Only as Good as the Beginning — Success from the Door to the Downbeat
How we begin a rehearsal — and how we begin our sound — can have a significant impact on where we end up. In this practical session, Tyler will demonstrate warm-up techniques and fundamental exercises that transfer directly into ensemble repertoire. Together, we will explore the importance of warming up with intent, developing a purposeful ensemble sound, and making the most of the limited rehearsal time available to us.

Come ready to participate, reflect and take away practical ideas that can be applied immediately in your own music program.
