Chaplain Self-Care and Wellbeing: Practical Strategies for Sustainable Ministry
Description:
Chaplains are called to be present, available and responsive to others. Yet working as a team of one, navigating (sometimes) unclear expectations and serving in a ministry where the results may not be seen for years can make caring for oneself particularly challenging.
Drawing on his chapter in Incarnational Ministry: A Practical Guide for Chaplains, Canon James Tabor explores the distinctive pressures of chaplaincy with honesty, insight and humour. He will consider why presence is valuable ministry, how busyness can undermine availability, and why rest, relationships, boundaries and good diary management are essential.
This practical webinar will span 45-minutes and encourage chaplains to care for themselves so they can continue to serve others with energy, purpose and hope.
Presenter:
Canon James Tabor is Chaplain of Frederick Irwin Anglican School. He is a Canon of Bunbury Cathedral. James has served in two parishes, as well as Hospital, Armed Forces and School Chaplaincy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Theology degree, and is a Master of Laws.
