About

From New York to Paris, from ragtime to jazz, an ensemble of actors chronicles the story of America's first women soldiers. Set against the backdrop of World War I, this thrilling musical follows a group of courageous women who served as bilingual telephone operators on the front lines, playing a crucial role in communications for the American Expeditionary Forces and helping turn the tide of the war.
In 1917, General John J Pershing called for skilled telephone operators to join the Army. At a time when telephone operating was a profession dominated by women, Pershing recruited a unit of female operators to serve overseas, challenging the traditions and expectations of their time.
When they returned home after the war, these pioneering women faced another battle, the fight for recognition and equal rights. Their decades-long struggle helped pave the way for future generations.
The Hello Girls is a timeless tale of strength, resilience, and the pursuit of equality. With its vibrant score and inspiring characters, this musical celebrates the untold story of these trailblazing women and their remarkable contribution to history.
