Presented by Associate Professor Charlie Rancombe from the School of Design and Architecture at Swinburne University of Technology, it's a timely session to address both the opportunities and possible challenges of this technology in practice. This webinar will explore how Generative AI can facilitate richer interactions between architects and clients. By enabling clients to quickly generate visual representations of design ideas, GenAI has the potential to enhance communication, foster mutual understanding, and help refine design briefs through collaborative visualisation.

Setting boundaries and providing guidance to clients on how to use and interpret this facility in the context of a project, can be key to managing expectations about what AI-generated imagery represents and the difference between visual concepts and resolved architectural design.

OUR SPEAKER

A/prof. Charlie Ranscombe is Director of the Centre for Design Innovation at Swinburne University of Technology and Chief Investigator on Arch_Manu, Australia's first ARC-funded architecture Industrial Transformation Training Centre. His research sits at the intersection of design practice, emerging technology, and industry application with a particular focus on how generative AI and advanced visualisation tools are reshaping how designers think, communicate, and collaborate.

With a sustained track record of translating design research into commercial outcomes, Charlie brings both academic rigour and practical industry experience to questions about AI in design. His current work explores how generative AI can support richer communication between designers and clients helping to surface ideas earlier, build shared understanding faster, and produce better design outcomes.

CPD

Completion of this 1 hour webinar and submission of the self-checked assessment task will deliver 1 formal CPD point.
