Location
Jewish Museum of Australia 26 Alma Rd, St Kilda, VIC, 3182
About
The mystical Tree of Life is one of Judaism's most fascinating and enduring symbols. Join scholar and translator of mystical texts, David Solomon, for an introductory lecture unpacking the concept of the Tree throughout Jewish tradition.
Inspired by the work of exhibiting artist Joel Adler, discover the structure, meaning and significance of the Tree of Life, with a focus on its Kabbalistic resonance. Branching from this world to the unknowable, explore how Jewish mystics have used the image to understand the dynamic relationship between humans and the divine for centuries.
David Solomon is an internationally acclaimed, globally-roaming scholar, teacher, writer and translator. His beloved podcast 'Collected Talks of David Solomon' provides a snapshot of the many lectures he has given in Jewish History, the Jewish Bible, Jewish Philosophy, Hebrew and Kabbalah over more than two decades. David is the Managing Editor at Margalya Press and translator of the foundational kabbalistic text Tiqqunei ha-Zohar, the first full-length English translation of this cornerstone text of Jewish mysticism.
