💜 Speed Date the Data That Matters

Most children meet graphs as a page in a maths book. Here they meet them as a dig, a hunt, a card game and a packet of lollies and they're halfway through making one before anyone has said the word 'chart'.

Ages 5–8: there is digging, there is treasure, and there is something sweet they are not allowed to eat until they've turned it into a chart.

Ages 9–14: their own name, a card game and their own Saturday — three things nobody calls data until you've drawn them.

There's a grown-up table too. No maths required, no experience needed, nothing on a screen.

Everyone goes home with their own charts, a Data Detective passport stamped three times, and a certificate with their name on it.

When: Wednesday 30 September 2026, 1:00 – 3:00 pm

Where: Black VC, Level 3, 4 Mort Street, Canberra ACT 2601

Ages: 5–14, with a parent or carer — children stay with their adult throughout

Cost: Free

Access: Lift access to Level 3. Prams welcome.

Allergies: Activities include Skittles and dry rice. Nut-free, and a non-food alternative is always on the table.
