FROM A $10K FEATURE FILM TO A TRILOGY

The original Echo 8 started as a crazy experiment: could we make an action feature film with just $6,500?

We did.

That tiny film went on to reach audiences around the world, and what started as one microbudget movie grew into an entire trilogy.

For Five By Five and Echo 8 Beyond, we went even bigger. The two features were shot back-to-back over 50 days, powered by a huge grassroots effort involving emerging filmmakers, experienced professionals, actors, martial artists, volunteers and members of the Western Sydney community.

Across the journey, more than 200 people have participated in the films, workshops and community activities surrounding the Echo 8 Trilogy.

These aren't studio movies.

They're movies made by people who decided to stop waiting for permission and make something together.

Before coming home, Echo 8 Beyond is heading overseas.

🗽 Both movie are screening at Regal Times Square, New York City as part of the Urban Action Showcase. And now we're bringing it back to where so much of this journey began: Western Sydney.

Each screening will be followed by a filmmaker Q&A, where we'll talk openly about how these films were actually made: the tiny budgets, the action, the mistakes, the challenges and what we've learned from building feature films outside the traditional system.

If you're an actor, filmmaker or someone who's ever thought, “I'd love to make a movie one day,” come and meet the people who actually went and did it.

Our screenings are also partnering with Maddy & Co (Maddy's Wish) to help raise funds for DIPG research through Little Legs Foundation.

Maddy Suy appeared in Echo 8 Beyond before sadly passing away from DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), an aggressive childhood brain tumour.

Maddy became an important part of the heart behind the film and inspired themes of kindness, forgiveness, bravery, friendship and family.

Every screening ticket includes one complimentary entry into our premiere raffle.

Additional raffle tickets will be available, with 100% of proceeds from additional raffle ticket sales going to Little Legs Foundation.

These are intimate screenings and we're releasing only 100 tickets per film.
