About
Pop the kettle on and join us for another cosy Saturday morning on Zoom with world-renowned shadow puppet master Richard Bradshaw OAM, UNIMA Australia Life Member.
This time, Richard shares his stories and memories of working with Jim Henson, from his appearance on The Muppet Show to the hour-long documentary made about him for the series Jim Henson Presents The World of Puppetry. Expect behind-the-scenes tales, personal reflections and a rare first-hand glimpse into the world of one of puppetry's most influential figures.
Richard has performed his shadow puppets for audiences in over 25 countries across more than 50 years. Generations of Australian children grew up with his shadow artistry on ABC TV's Play School, where his work was broadcast for over 30 years. From 1976 to 1983 he was Artistic Director of the Marionette Theatre of Australia, where he introduced modern puppetry techniques to Australian audiences and inspired a generation of young puppeteers. He received the OAM in 1986 for services to the arts as a puppeteer, and helped establish UNIMA Australia in 1970.
Following our much-loved session on Bil Baird (one of Henson's own early inspirations!), this is a wonderful chance to hear from someone who was there.
This session will be moderated by Katherine Hannaford and Christopher Ragg from UNIMA Australia.
