“What more do you need for an evening's entertainment?”
- Man in Chair, Act 1, Scene 1
You’re invited to Collingwood College’s 2026 School Production of The Drowsy Chaperone, with Music and Lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Don McKella, Book by Bob Martin and Greg Morrison, and directed by Sarah Adams. A loving pastiche of the Golden Age musical, this madcap comedy boasts five Tony Award wins, including Best Book and Best Original Score.
Spend a glittering evening in the company of musical theatre tragic the Man in Chair, as he spins the record of his very favourite 1920s musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone. Savour each dizzying moment as the recording comes to life in the middle of his living room, bringing with it a lovable cast of captivating characters; a glamorous bride giving up the stage for her charming-yet-simple groom, a tormented producer losing his star, a forgetful dowager hostess, gangsters posing as pastry chefs and of course, one very drowsy chaperone.
Performed, designed and crewed by our talented Grade 5 - Year 10 students, this rollicking farce is packed with big numbers, bigger characters and buckets of laughs for the whole family.
