Under the surface: the technology trends that will defeat AUKUS
Derek Woolner and David Glynne Jones will outline the emergent technologies that are converging to reshape subsea warfare, and describe how these developments are likely to disrupt Australia's planned nuclear-powered submarine force well before it is fully deployed in the mid-late 2050s.
Derek Woolner is a previous director of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Group in the Parliamentary Research Service, and is the co-auther of 'The Collins Class Submarine Story: Steel, Spies and Spin'.
David Glynne Jones is an independent advocate for the adoption of renewable energy and electrification across all sectors of the Australian economy. He is currently assessing the implications of emerging advanced battery technology for electrification of the Australian transport sector.
Together they collaborate in publishing and presenting on the strategic implications of emergent technologies.
There will be a Q&A session after the presentation, followed by light refreshments.
