About
Beethoven's Influence Vol. 1
Timo-Veikko Valve grew up in Finland, and has been Principal Cello of the Australian Chamber Orchestra since 2006. Recognised for his natural, creative, and generous musicianship, Tipi seeks to define the modern-day musician. He effortlessly transitions between modern and period instruments and describes the cello as a flexible and adaptive partner, both in its role in an ensemble and as a soloist, across all forms of music. He reflects this versatility and enjoys a diverse career as a musician, curator and director, directing from the cello as he plays and appearing as a soloist with many of the major orchestras across his two home countries, Finland, and Australia.
Finnish pianist Emil Holmström has been described as an aesthete. Not in the sense of having an immutable style that has always remained intact, but rather, one that has consistently been the result of conscious choices, whether regarding his outfit, a detail of interior decoration at home, the planning of a concert program, or very concrete aesthetic considerations in a particular piano piece. Emil has performed as a soloist, chamber musician, and ensemble keyboard player throughout Europe, the Americas, Japan, and Australia. An ardent champion of new music, Holmström is a member Finnish groups defunensemble and the Grammy Award-winning Uusinta Ensemble, and plays as a regular guest with the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra.
