Young Engineers Homeschool Discovery Lab - Caboolture
Location
Queensland State Equestrian Centre (QSEC) Meeting Room, Cnr Tuckeroo Dr & Beerburrum Rd, Caboolture, QLD, 4510
About
A hands-on LEGO® engineering class for homeschooling families, and the perfect way to discover Young Engineers.
At a Young Engineers Homeschool Discovery Lab, kids don't just play with LEGO®, they engineer with it. In 75 minutes, each child builds their own working machine from the ground up, then uncovers the real science that makes it work: how gears change speed, how levers and pulleys make work easier, and what keeps a structure strong and stable.
They'll learn a new concept, build step by step, test what they've made and take the design further, just like real engineers. It's a great chance to build alongside other homeschooled kids and see how Young Engineers could fit into your home education program.
The class explores science and engineering concepts found in the Australian Curriculum, including forces and motion, simple machines and the design process. It's a hands-on way to bring STEM into your home education program, and many families include activities like this in their home education records.
We're running Discovery Labs in different parts of the Moreton Bay region ahead of our weekly homeschool programs launching in 2027. Book your Discovery Lab today and let the building begin!

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY
🧠 Learn an engineering concept through a story, demo and real-world examples
🧱 Build a LEGO® model step by step, with a working mechanism to explore
🏁 Experiment by testing and tweaking their model to see what changes
🔧 Imagine new ways to take the design further and solve a bigger problem
PARENTS ARE INVITED FROM 11:30AM
Don't just collect your child, come and see what they made. In the last 15 minutes, your child will show you their machine, how it works and the engineering behind it.
WHAT'S NEXT: TERM 1 2027
Discovery Labs are the first step. We're planning to launch regular weekly homeschool programs from Term 1 2027, and we'd love your input on where and when they run.
FAQ
- Things to bring: Water bottle
- Is it drop-off? Yes. Parents sign children in from 10:25am. If your child would prefer you to stay for the session, that is absolutely fine.
- Can younger siblings stay? Only enrolled children can be in the class room, as the kits contain small parts.
- Our educator: All instructors hold a current Queensland Blue Card
- Does my child need any experience? None at all. Everything is taught from scratch, and tasks scale to suit each child's age and ability
- My child is neurodivergent. Will this suit them? Many children who love LEGO® thrive in our hands-on, structured classes. Tell us what works for your child when you register, and we'll make sure they're set up for a great session.
- Can we come to more than one Discovery Lab? Yes. Each Discovery Lab features a different model, so children can come again and build something new.
- Will there be a regular program? We're planning weekly homeschool programs from Term 1 2027. Families who attend a Discovery Lab get first access to enrolments.
- Cancellation policy: Cancellations made more than 7 days before the class receive a full refund; within 7 days, fees are non-refundable, though you're welcome to transfer the place to another child or another Discovery Lab date

ABOUT YOUNG ENGINEERS
Young Engineers runs hands-on STEM programs that spark a love of learning through play. Our educators bring lessons to life with stories, real experiments and thoughtfully designed challenges that keep children engaged from start to finish.
Through guided projects, children build LEGO® prototypes of historical, modern and functional machines, many of them motorised, picking up real-world maths, physics and engineering fundamentals along the way. Just as importantly, they build the human skills that machines can't replace: resilience when a design fails, curiosity to keep exploring, and the critical thinking to work out why something didn't go to plan. In a world being reshaped by AI, these are the skills that will matter most, and they're best learned early, through play.
We believe today's young engineers are tomorrow's creators, innovators and problem-solvers.
