About

Get ready to swing into a night of cool jazz and smooth saxophone sounds!

Join Andrew and his quintet as they take you on a soulful journey through his favourite tunes. From silky-smooth saxophone lines and irresistible swinging rhythms to dreamy melodies and laid-back jazz grooves, settle in, soak up the atmosphere and let the music carry you away. It’s a night of cool cats, classic vibes and seriously good jazz!
Our Favourite Things brings together some of the music that has inspired Andrew throughout his life, from the cool jazz of Paul Desmond to the songs of Stevie Nicks, Don Walker and Richard Rodgers. Alongside these favourites, the program features Andrew’s award-winning original compositions and some brand-new music. Featuring some of Brisbane's best known jazz musicians, the band brings its own contemporary jazz perspective to this diverse collection of music.
Andrew Butt has been a significant figure in the Australian music scene for over 30 years, earning multiple Queensland Music Awards and receiving prestigious honours including a Churchill Fellowship and an Australian Government Excellence Award for Music Education. He has performed as a soloist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and is a regular presence on national and international stages, appearing at major festivals and venues such as the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz, Le Baiser Salé and Sunset–Sunside (Paris), iF Jazz Café (Budapest), U Malého Glena (Prague), Tanks Arts Centre (Cairns), and the Paris Cat Jazz Club (Melbourne).
