About

Calling all Horties!

Let’s talk all things Horticulture!!!! For our final event (before the Christmas Party) we are giving you the chance to come and learn from some of our industry experts in a relaxed, but hands-on setting in a Q&A / Forum style event with multiple Hort professionals with different areas of expertise and an opportunity to wander Louisa’s garden for some real-world examples / skills training. The schedule can be finalised on the day based on numbers and topics of interest, but come prepared with all your questions and troubleshooting topics or simply be ready to fill your brain with Horti-facts and practise some skills in the garden with amazing mentors and network over dinner.
The Mettam Ranch is a typical semi-rural residential property of the area. Expect the usual patchwork of Natives, exotics, fruits, veggies, lawn and horse paddocks. Developed over a 50 yr timeline from the ground up, with minimal maintenance and informal planning. We can also visit the Guerrilla verge garden just across the road - a Covid project to camouflage the Telstra substation and create some colour and biodiversity for the neighbourhood .
Experts in attendance:
Matt Carroll (Hortiman, Hort Media and Hort Education & Training)
Mark Engall (Citrus expert / pests and diseases, specialist nursery)
David Fripp (Rare and unusual plants, propagating and plant care)
Judy Horton (Hort Media, industry legend and font of Hort knowledge and history)
Colin Hunt (Biosecurity, soils and potting mixes, nursery systems and set-up)
Mark Massey (Retail Nursery, developing new varieties, PBR, Hydrangeas and other rare plants)
Louisa Mettam (Landscape Architect, Workshops for kids, Seasol and Powerfeed)
Rob Swane (Production Nursery)
David Ting (Ponds, Irrigation, Garden Lighting, Innovative construction methods)

Dinner will be BBQ style. BYO meat and drinks and $10 covers salads, bread, fruit and desert.
