About
A very cheeky first movement followed by a slow movement so tragic yet beautiful in mood – just as Mozart can juxtapose, for example, the painfully beautiful Countess’s aria against all the naughty songs in ‘The Marriage of Figaro’.
In the first two movements of Tchaikovsky’s 5th symphony the full orchestra indulges itself in super romantic tunes with almost all the instruments having juicy bits to play and Ballet like textures from dark to boisterous.
Finally Ayesha Gough will be the soloist in Beethoven’s 3rd piano concerto, sometimes called a symphonic concerto, the orchestra and the highly virtuosic piano part alternating and joining with typical Beethoven certainty of direction – no dull moments.
