About
A 'Dynasty' and 'Number 96' themed party celebrating regional pride.
Step back into the glamour, drama and possibility of the 1970s and 1980s for a one-night-only celebration of regional pride, queer storytelling and community connection in Jeparit.
Inspired by the bold style of Dynasty and the groundbreaking representation of Australia’s Number 96, this event brings together live entertainment, themed dress-ups, documentary-style stories and a joyful gala atmosphere led by Wanda, Queen of the Little Desert as MC.
Audiences can expect colour, music, humour, nostalgia and moments of reflection, with separate video installations sharing personal stories from LGBTQIA+ people and their allies with lived experience of life in the Wimmera during a time of profound social change.
At its heart, this project is about visibility: honouring the resilience of people who lived through decades of limited recognition, discrimination and isolation, while celebrating how far regional communities have come. It is also an invitation to keep building safer, more welcoming places where LGBTQIA+ community members, families, friends and allies can connect, belong and be themselves.
Presented by Hindmarsh Pride Committee in partnership with local and regional supporters, this Midsumma event will transform Jeparit into a space for celebration, storytelling and pride. Come dressed in your best retro glamour, settle in for an evening of entertainment and connection, and be part of a meaningful regional celebration that is playful, powerful and proudly Wimmera.
