MGC Parent Information Session - Perfectionism

Perfectionism and perfectionistic tendencies are present in many highly able individuals. There is considerable research literature examining perfectionism as a multidimensional construct. Susan will examine some of the available literature relating to perfectionism and giftedness. The session will introduce:
(1) positive and negative definitions of perfectionism,
(2) possible causes of perfectionism,
(3) identification of perfectionism, and
(4) strategies to manage perfectionism.

Susan will highlight the important role of parents in assisting students to manage perfectionistic tendencies.
