POP-UP WORKSHOPS

School Holiday program 25-28 September
Love drawing, making models, designing things? Interested in shaping the future of our environments? Curious about what it would be like to study architecture, fine arts, landscape architecture, or history of art at UWA?
Register for one or more of our interactive sessions with School of Design staff.
The week will conclude with an exhibition of work produced by workshop participants. Unless otherwise noted, workshops are suitable for ages 13 and up.

Tuesday 25th 9.30am-12.30pm Practical skills development and sensory exploration in drawing (Specially for ages 7-12) Explore a range of drawing approaches, techniques and materials, and discover how much fun creativity can be.
Tuesday 25th 1.00pm-5.00pm Radical printmaking: Zines to silkscreens This 4-hour hands-on workshop focuses on the basics of expressing your ideas through ‘radical’ printmaking techniques. Methods covered will range from printing Zines to creating your own silkscreened posters, t-shirts, and bags.
Tuesday 25th 2.00pm-5.00pm Drawing foundations and experimental drawing Explore practical, conceptual and experimental approaches to drawing. (Ages 13+ )
Wednesday 26th 9.30am-4.30pm Architecture through model making This workshop invites you into the world of architecture through model making. Create 3D built forms using card, paper, timber and more.
Wednesday 26th 9.30am-1.00pm Product Design and Making Take this design-and-make workshop to fabricate take-home timber products etched with logos of your own design.
Wednesday 26th 10.00am-1.00pm Wear your own DNA Using bio-art techniques, make a piece of jewellery from your own DNA!
Thursday 27th 9.30am-12.30pm The story art of the graphic novel The Graphic Novel (or comic) is an adaptive and expressive medium for storytelling used extensively around the world. This workshop will introduce participants to the poetics of the medium and give them a hands on approach to creating a visual narrative from a supplied passage of text. Thursday 27th 2.00pm-5.00pm How to … change the world through exciting careers in the Arts Take a tour of UWA art galleries and go behind the scenes to discover where a career in art can take you and how to get there.
Thursday 27th 2.00pm-5.00pm Landscapes for the future What big ideas and practical solutions do our cities need to be vital places for us in the future? Take part in this workshop to experience the key role of the landscape architect in designing our environments.
Friday 28th 4.00pm-6.00pm Exhibition – Free Event Participants are invited back to the exhibition of their work. Friends and family welcome. Participants will take all work home after the exhibition. |
