King Edward Memorial Hospital offers this free* 2 hour Class to pregnant people who are birthing under the Women's and Newborn Services (King Edward Memorial Hospital, Family Birth Centre or Osborne Park Hospital).

CONTENT

One 2-hour LIVE ONLINE class for anyone having a planned caesarean birth, taught by experienced and knowledgeable midwives.

Topics include:

  • Indications and risks for caesarean 
  • Nvigating the pathway for caesarean section from booking to birth
  • Support person's role in caesarean
  • Postpartum in the hospital and what to expect
  • Postpartum healing and recovery at home

This course will empower you and your support person to make evidence based informed choices in your caesarean birth.

ELIGIBILITY

• Birthing under the Women's and Newborn Services (King Edward Memorial Hospital, Family Birth Centre or Osborne Park Hospital)

RECOMMENDED GESTATION TO BOOK

• We recommend attending a class for a date far prior to your planned caesarean. 

LOCATION

This class is held ONLINE via MSTeams on:

Tuesday Evening sessions 06:30PM- 08:30PM 

or

 Wednesdays Morning 9:30AM - 11:30AM for pregnant people and their support person.

When you follow the provided link, you will be asked to enter a name into a free text box prior to being admitted to the virtual waiting room. The name that you provide will be visible to other attendees to the session. If you prefer to remain anonymous you can type 'anonymous' or use a nickname/initials if you wish. You will be requested to email your identifiers to the parent education email so that we can confirm attendance. 

TICKET INSTRUCTIONS

• You only need to book 1 ticket - support people do not need to book their own ticket.

• When booking, please use the pregnant person's name and Medical Reference Number (see Image Below)
