The class is run IN-PERSON with an experienced clinical midwife. It is a small group setting located in our Parent Education Department at King Edward Memorial Hospital.
CONTENT
One 2.5 hour course for parents considering or planning a vaginal birth after a previous caesarean birth - taught by experienced and knowledgeable midwives.
This class is designed to help women build knowledge and confidence as they plan for a vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC).
During the class we discuss:
- the benefits and risks of VBAC compared with repeat caesarean
- navigating and understanding discussions of risk
- signs of labour, when to seek advice and what to expect during hospital admission
- VBAC-specific labour care recommendations
- informed decision-making and planning for a positive birth experience.
We highly recommend attending 'Labour Strategies' in-person or our 'Second Baby and Beyond' workshop online or in-person to complement this course. Alternatively, specific labour and birth information in great detail is covered within week 1 & 2 of our 'Preparing for Birth and Baby' Online workshop. We do not discuss strategies for labour, pain relief or coping mechanisms within this workshop.
