Ula&HerBrothers: Textile Block Printing Workshop

Location
4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art 181-187 Hay Street, Haymarket, NSW, 2000
About
Join us for a hands-on textile block printing workshop for kids, sharing an afternoon of creativity, culture and storytelling - in conjunction with 4A's 'High Tides: Yuki Kihara and Morgan Hogg’ exhibition.
Led by Ula&HerBrothers (Noelle Moa), this workshop draws on the rich visual traditions of the Pacific and explores the patterns, symbols and storytelling practices of tapa, the ancient artform of decorated barkcloth.
🌊 Through an introduction to Pasifika art and culture, children will discover how traditional motifs have been used for generations.
🧵 Participants will design and print their own Pacific tapa-inspired patterns onto a custom T-shirt to take home.
👕 All supplies will be provided. Spaces are limited to 13 participants. Parents or guardians are required to remain on site throughout the workshop.
Recommended age: 9 - 17 years old
Come and create, print and explore Pacific storytelling through art!
