About
Set in the roaring 1960s, Boeing-Boeing centres on self-styled Parisian lothario Bernard, a bachelor with a flat in Paris and three fiancées, an Italian, a German, and an American airline stewardess, each blissfully unaware of the others. Bernard carefully maintains his romantic system by keeping “one up, one down, and one on standby,” relying on flight schedules and layovers to preserve the illusion of control. When his old friend Robert comes to stay, and modern aviation, bad weather, and faster Boeing jets begin to disrupt those schedules, Bernard’s carefully planned life unravels. Soon, all three stewardesses are in Paris, and in Bernard’s apartment, at the same time, turning his orderly system into fast-moving, chaotic comedy.
