About
Grampians Sector Development welcomes CHSP Allied Health Staff to attend Motivational Interviewing Workshops facilitated by Dr Kylie McKenzie.
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a compassionate and person-centred approach to communication that is particularly helpful for working in healthcare and community support. Through well-articulated skills and strategies, MI promotes building a partnership with a person, focusing on what is important to them, and respecting and empowering their choices.
The Advancing Skills Workshop builds on the Foundation Skills training and supports a deeper understanding of the skills and application of MI. This workshop offers an opportunity to:
- review of the major principles of MI, with an emphasis on cultivating change talk and softening sustain talk
- engage in deliberate practice aimed at deepening evocation, strengthening reflections, and practising skills in transitioning from evoking to action planning
- develop MI-informed reflective skills to review and improve practice
This full-day workshop commences at 9am and conclude at 4.30pm and will include morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
