About
Learn the Mindset of a Proceduralist through TouchDesigner and Audio-Reactive Projection Mapping
Your facilitator, Peter Walker has been at the forefront of real-time audio-reactive visuals for over 25 years, creating work for some of the world's biggest music festivals, Hollywood films, and immersive experiences.
This course is as much about learning TouchDesigner as it is about developing the mindset of a procedural thinker—someone who values experimentation, adaptability, and elegant problem-solving.
Rather than simply following tutorials, you'll learn *how to think* procedurally: breaking complex problems into reusable systems, embracing iteration, and building workflows that are both creative and reliable.
You'll explore topics including:
* How to iterate rapidly while maintaining rock-solid stability—and why that's essential in live production environments.
* The common pitfalls and lesser-known techniques behind creating compelling audio-reactive visuals.
* Building reusable procedural systems instead of one-off effects.
* Developing an instinct for experimentation and creative problem-solving.
* The philosophy of constant curiosity, and how to harness your passion to go from a 'bedroom hero' to travelling the world, creating unforgettable experiences, and ticking off your artistic bucket list.
Who Will Benefit?
This workshop is designed for a broad range of creative practitioners, including:
* New to advanced TouchDesigner users—whether you're just getting started or looking to refine your procedural workflow.
* VJs, creative technologists, projection mapping artists, and live production technicians.
* Visual artists, designers, musicians, and creatives from all backgrounds who are interested in real-time interactive media, live production and procedural thinking.
To participate, please bring:
* A laptop with the free or paid version of TouchDesigner installed.
* Your own refreshments, snacks, and meals.
* Headphones and a selection of your favourite music.
* A willingness to focus on the concepts and ideas presented during the session rather than trying to take extensive notes. The aim is to immerse yourself in the philosophical ideas and leave inspired to explore further.
Attendees will also recieve custom components and tools for production workflows and creative projects!
