Melbourne Kathak Festival showcases Kathak, the Indian classical dance form, while presenting its 2026 theme: Rang-e-Sangeet—a complete spectrum of sound and sight.
Like Kathak is a confluence of many cultures, this festival celebrates the rich traditions of the Indian subcontinent and values the art of multicultural storytelling. In our classical tradition, Sangeet is not just about the notes we hear; it is the visual harmony of movement, melody, and emotion. Through this festival, we aim to pass traditional knowledge to the future generations so that the stories of the past have a place in our future.
This event will include thematic performances where our dancers will paint the stage alive with a full spectrum of classical storytelling, stunning footwork, and vibrant melodies. Tonight, our emerging South Asian artists residing in Australia will showcase how rhythm captures every shade of human emotion, inviting you to immerse yourselves in this vibrant spectrum of art.
