VHS: Christmas Carol

Presented by Launceston Musical Society, and making its Tasmania premiere, VHS Christmas Carol is a unique musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ beloved holiday classic. Written by Clark Baxtresser and originally produced by StarKid Productions, the show reimagines A Christmas Carol through the lens of 1980s music, media, and pop culture. First released as a visual album in 2020, it has since enjoyed successful stage productions in Los Angeles and Chicago.

The story follows the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge as he is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Guided by these spirits, along with the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley, Scrooge embarks on a journey of reflection, redemption, and transformation. Featuring a nostalgic synth-pop score and a fresh theatrical style, VHS Christmas Carol brings new life to a timeless tale in this exciting Tasmania premiere from Launceston Musical Society.
