HUNTER RIVER, NEWCASTLE with LUNCH at the CUSTOM HOUSE and RETURN
Thursday 15th OCT 2026

An opportunity to experience train travel at its best to Hamilton (Newcastle) following the back waters of the Hawkesbury River, then the shores of Brisbane Waters, with Hamilton not far distant.
From there we catch the Light Rail to our final destination Hunter River Customs House (circa 1870) only 100 metres from the river.
The Customs House has a delightful restaurant where we will have lunch. To expedite delivery of our lunch I will have the menu which can be completed on the train and on forwarded to the restaurant.
After lunch, which should be finished around 2:30 pm we will do the reverse catching the train to Sydney arriving in Sydney approx. 6:15 pm. On the train home it will be an opportunity to have a snooze for those so inclined. And the cost of this wonderful day excursion is a solitary $2.50!! Plus, the cost of your lunch.

So:
BE AT CENTRAL STATION PLATFORM 9
by 8:40AM for TRAIN DEPARTURE 8:55am

NOTE: There could be possible changes for the train departure times which will be advised to Starters. And don't forget to bring that $2.50 Opal card!
COST: OPAL and lunch at own expense
