We're having our first one-day national gathering of IMMA members – and we want you there.
The 2026 IMMA Summit brings together Australia's independent and multicultural publishers and broadcasters to talk about what's actually working — not in theory, but in practice for independent publications like yours in 2026.
We'll hear from members who will share what's moved the needle for them recently. Panel sessions will include industry experts sharing insights on:
- How to successfully transform from an old media business to new media
- How to make AI work in a small newsroom
- How to optimise your website and ad servers to grow engagement and revenue
Plus a guest speaker (soon to be announced), an update on Multicultural Media Direct, and a celebration of our first RMIT Journalism Fundamentals cohort.
Between sessions, you'll have plenty of opportunity to meet and network with other IMMA members, learn from each other and find common ground about the opportunities and challenges faced in our sector.
Registration includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.

Optional pre-Summit welcome dinner
For interstate registrants and those wishing to connect with members prior to the Summit, we will host an informal group dinner at The Eight Restaurant, near the Summit venue in Chinatown. Enjoy a set banquet of Cantonese cuisine for $80-$100 per person (price TBC). Arrival 7:30pm.

Travel grant funding
If you or your colleagues are travelling from outside Sydney, IMMA can contribute up to $500 towards your costs. The allowance is capped at $500 per publication, not per person. Email dashiel.lawrence@imma.com.au once you've registered and we'll arrange the payment with you directly.
