with

Alanna Kirkwood, Victoria Poulos & Kathy Harrison

Join Alanna, Victoria and Kathy to explore some games suitable for gifted children and their families along with some holiday ideas. There will be an opportunity for you to share your favourites too.

Alanna is the President of the Tasmanian Association for the Gifted Inc. (TAG) and has been involved with the committee for a number of years.  As a parent of a twice-exceptional child who was approved for Early Entry to school, she brings both personal experience and a strong passion for supporting gifted and neurodivergent young people and their families. Having called various parts of Tasmania home, including Hobart, Alanna now lives in the North-West with her family. She is passionate about exploring everything Tasmania has to offer, particularly finding new adventures and experiences that keep the whole family's minds curious, active and engaged.

As the Vice President of the VAGTC, Victoria has over 25 years of experience as both a parent and educator of gifted children, bringing a unique and deeply informed perspective to her work in the field. With a Masters in Gifted Education, she currently lectures at UNSW and Eastern College, and has presented her research and insights internationally, including as an Australian delegate to the Asia-Pacific Federation of Giftedness and the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC). Victoria's work has been published in the Australasian Journal of Gifted Education and the National Symposium on Japanese Language Education (NSJLE). Her particular interests include supporting twice-exceptional learners, homeschooling gifted children, and empowering parents with practical strategies for navigating the challenges and joys of raising gifted children. Victoria is passionate about advocacy and helping families and educators recognise and respond to the complex needs of gifted learners with empathy and evidence-based practices.

Kathy is president of VAGTC, a curriculum writer for the Victorian High Ability Program and teaches VHAP Mathematics through Virtual School Victoria. With 15 years as Coordinator of Gifted Education at the Compass Centre and Exemplary Teacher at Methodist Ladies’ College, she brings a wealth of experience to gifted education. Kathy was awarded the Australian Mathematics Trust Teaching Award in 2018 and has completed postgraduate research on the use of ICT with gifted learners. She is a skilled presenter, coach, and consultant, regularly contributing to seminars and conferences. A passionate advocate for gifted students and broader social justice, Kathy volunteers across various causes and strives to inspire students to think critically, act ethically, and use their talents to create meaningful change.
