Ivan Horvatic & Andrew Rumsey Piano Masterclass – 3 Oct

Join internationally experienced pianists Ivan Horvatic and Andrew Rumsey for a special piano masterclass designed to help young pianists take their performances to the next level. Together, Ivan and Andrew will work with selected students on their repertoire, exploring not simply what to improve, but how to improve it: from technique, tone, interpretation and stylistic understanding to communicating character and performing with greater freedom and conviction.

The morning will also move beyond the notes themselves to tackle some of the challenges every developing pianist eventually encounters:

How do you memorise music so that it remains reliable under pressure?
How should you prepare in the final days before an important performance?
What can you do when nerves threaten to undermine all the work you have done?

Drawing upon their own experiences as performers, teachers and examiners, Ivan and Andrew will share practical approaches to memorisation, performance preparation and managing performance anxiety, helping students develop not only stronger performances, but greater confidence in the process of preparing them.
