About

The Pirates of Penzance is one of the favourites of the many operettas written by the famous Gilbert and Sullivan writing team. Our production has been modified for students and is nearly 2 hours in duration, including 2 acts with an intermission. The musical’s setting is in, and around the sleepy little English coastal village of Penzance, where the “famous” Pirates of Penzance, led by their Pirate King, quite unsuccessfully ply their trade. The Village is governed by an eccentric Major General [of what we are not sure] who has a large number of daughters. They are pursued by the Pirates but luckily, the daughters have the protection of the Penzance police who are “legends in their own lunchboxes” in reality.

The musical is full of catchy songs, strange twists of intrigue and outcomes, and some very tricky dialogue which our young players have mastered wonderfully well.
