For NICA, it’s the people. The teachers who have passed on their knowledge. The students who have taken risks, found their feet and flown. The graduates who have carried NICA’s spirit out into the world. The audiences, families, friends and circus community who have filled these spaces with energy for 25 years.
This November, come and celebrate with us.
Coming Home is NICA’s 25th anniversary celebration: a spectacular, heartfelt and joyful trip through the stories that have made NICA what it is. Inspired by the NICA archives, the show turns the pages of 25 years, moving through different eras and bringing together the people who lived them.
On stage, generations of graduates return to perform alongside current students and teachers, creating combinations that span the organisation’s history. They will take us on a ride across the years using wheels, hoops, bikes, aerials, foot juggling and plenty of circus that will have you wondering how on earth they do it.
Aside from a trip down memory lane, Coming Home is about what happens when all those stories come together. The final chapter looks forward, with students from Shanghai Circus School joining us for the final iteration of the Beyond Our Boundaries project. Their visit is a nod to NICA’s growing international connections and a glimpse towards the possibilities of the next 25 years.
The celebration will also launch NICA’s new Student Scholarship Fund with all ticket sales and donations going towards this effort to increase access to excellence for future generations of circus artists.
Now it’s time to celebrate. Remember our roots and write our story of the next 25 years.

NICA is Australia’s Centre of Excellence for training in contemporary circus arts. It is proudly one of eight national arts training institutes (Arts8) and offers Australia’s only Bachelor of Circus Arts.

Access to NICA's entrance, through to the performance theatre, is completely free of stairs and wheelchair friendly. We have an accessibility toilet in the main foyer and hard flooring throughout the building. Spaces inside the foyer and theatre can be quite loud. PARKING AND PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Please note there is limited on street car parking availability around NICA. If departing our venue late at night, please respect our neighbours and keep noise to a minimum. Please obey parking street signs and restrictions.
Stonnington Council operates a number of outdoor car parks that are a short walk from NICA.
These include:
- Windsor Station Carpark, 28 Chapel Street - ticketing paid parking, Monday - Sunday all day
- James Street Carpark, 8 Lincoln Place - free 2 hour parking, Monday - Saturday 9am - 6pm
Trams and Trains:
From Flinders Street Station take the Sandringham Line train to Windsor or Prahran Stations. The Number 6 Glen Iris Tram runs along Swanston Street. The closest stop is on the corner of High and Chapel Streets. Trams operate from 5.30am to 12.00pm midnight and with extended services available on Friday and Saturday nights.
