About

The Disaster Management Branch (DMB) currently coordinate the delivery of Hospital MIMMS courses. These courses are internationally accredited and provide health care professionals how with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to successfully integrate the health service response into the overall emergency services response to a mass casualty incident.

The aim of the courses is to optimise the management of patients involved in mass casualty events in the hospital environment, and to provide them with a seamless transition between hospital and pre-hospital.

MIMMS courses originate from the Advanced Life Support Group (ALSG) in the United Kingdom and are in widespread use around the world in both the civilian and military environments. Courses have been adapted both to suit the unique requirements of the Australian environment and to align with the Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements.

These courses are offered and open to clinicians and non-clinicians.
