About

Join us at The Mission to Seafarers Melbourne, to hear a unique perspective on shipping in Melbourne. We'll hear from two local Melbournians with extensive shipping experience - Warwick Laing from Port of Melbourne, and Capt Damian Laughlin from Port Phillip Sea Pilots.

After the presentation we'll have drinks afterwards in the unique heritage-listed Mission to Seafarers building.

Tickets are limited so booking is essential.

Capt Damian Laughlin has been a pilot at Port Phillip Sea Pilots for 15 years. He is the Vice President of the Australasian Marine Pilots Institute. Before piloting he was a mariner for over 20 years, across a wide range of vessels and international trades, including Master of the Spirit of Tasmania. Damian volunteers with the Pacific Pilot Training Group assisting Pasifika pilots with the latest in technology and world's best pilotage practice.

Warwick Laing is the Head of Maritime Operations at Port of Melbourne where he leads the team managing the shipping operations at the port. He previously worked at Ports Victoria where he was Harbour Master for 2 years. Before that, Warwick was at sea for 8 years in commercial shipping, and 8 years in the Royal Australian Navy as a Submarine Maritime Warfare Officer.

Tickets are free for PIANC members, however an optional donation can be made to the Mission to Seafarers when booking.
