Visual Arts Club: Painting with Oils: Creating atmosphere

Visual Arts Club will be offered at Waverley as a Summer activity for students‬ for Years 5-12.‬ It will commence Term 4, Week 2, 2026 and run until Term 1, Week 10, 2027. Visual Arts Club provides an opportunity for students to build skills in critical‬ and creative thinking.‬ This summer, students will be introduced to: Painting with oils: Creating atmosphere.

Each student will experiment with a range of oil painting techniques. Imagery will be sourced from landscapes in our local area and broader Sydney. Students will learn to prepare their canvas, plan a composition and block in value. The course will commence with small studies to teach specific colour pallets and learn how to create atmospheric qualities in the landscape. Students will then have the opportunity to photograph and compose their own landscape for the sustained final painting.
