About
Curtain Up!
Curtain Up! is a vibrant concert experience that sweeps audiences into the world of grand opera from the very first note. Showcasing a selection of beloved overtures, the performance captures the drama, elegance, and emotional power that set the stage for timeless operatic masterpieces. Each overture unfolds like a musical story in itself—rich with soaring melodies, dynamic contrasts, and orchestral brilliance—inviting listeners to relive the anticipation and magic of the theatre. It’s an afternoon where the curtain rises not just on a stage, but on the heart of opera itself.
The program will include overtures from: Die Zauberflote (Mozart), The Gondoliers (Sullivan), Egmont (Beethoven), Dichter und Bauer (Von Suppe), La Forza Del Destino (Verdi) and Carmen (Bizet)... and maybe a surprise encore - think high kicking dancing girls!
Orchestra Concertino is directed by much sought after conductor Weihang Li.
