About
Gambling Harm Awareness Week is an annual event that raises awareness about gambling harm and encourages people to understand the risks associated with gambling. GHAW 2026 will be held from 24 to 31 October 2026.
Gambling harm can affect anyone who gambles, as well as their family, friends and wider community. It can impact financial wellbeing, relationships, mental and physical health, work and social life. Through community education and awareness raising, GHAW encourages Victorians to make informed decisions about gambling and learn practical ways to reduce the risk of experiencing gambling harm.
Featurning a guest speaker from the ReSPIN Lived Experience Program.
Fred Rubinstein gambled away a $250,000 inheritance in a single year. It took his mum threatening to call the police before he sought help. Fred now shares his story of gambling harm and recovery to support others and to show that positive change is possible.
Followed by questions and afternoon tea. All welcome
