About

Join award-winning photographer, writer and storyteller Fiona Basile for an inspiring evening of photography, storytelling and conversation celebrating our connection to the ocean—and to one another.

Drawing on her acclaimed photographic books Immerse and The Next Wave, Fiona will share the story behind her work documenting Melbourne’s open-water swimming community and the extraordinary human stories she has discovered along the way. Through beautiful imagery and heartfelt storytelling, she explores what draws us to the water, the communities that form around it, and the courage, joy, friendship and sense of belonging that can be found when we take the plunge.

Whether you’re an ocean lover, open-water swimmer, photographer, storyteller—or simply someone who believes in the power of human connection—this is an evening for you. Come along to listen, laugh, reflect and be inspired.

There’ll also be time for questions and conversation with Fiona at the end of the presentation, with copies of Immerse and The Next Wave available to purchase and have personally signed by Fiona.
