About
Welcome to our first joint Sydney event between the Art Deco & Modernism Society of Australia and the C20th Heritage Society of NSW and ACT.
Join us for a 2 hour walk around Sydney CBD, led by our NSW events coordinator Michael Hauptman, looking at its heritage of beautiful buildings from the 1920s and '30s, followed by a convivial lunch at the Paragon Hotel at Circular Quay (optional, self funded). We'll be concentrating on the northern end of the city near Circular Quay, and including buildings such as the Maritime Services Building, Kyle House, Delfin House and the AWA Building. The walk is a shortened version of the very popular Art Deco walk that Michael has been conducting for the WEA for many years. We'll discover what Art Deco meant in the context of the dizzying changes that Sydney underwent in the 20s and 30s, from the Jazz Age to the Great Depression
This is the first of a number of joint events planned for the Art Deco & Modernism Society of Australia and the C20th Heritage Society of NSW and ACT, so a great opportunity to stretch your legs and chat with fellow Art Deco enthusiasts.
Meet outside the Circular Quay entrance to the Museum of Contemprary Art at The Rocks at 10am. Dress for the weather.
