Finding Your Story: A Memoir Writing Day with Michael Veitch & Peter Wilmoth
Have you been carrying around a story you’ve always meant to write?
Perhaps it’s your own life, your family’s history, a remarkable year, a journey, a career or simply a story you don’t want to lose.
Join acclaimed writers and storytellers Michael Veitch and Peter Wilmoth for an intimate day devoted to finding the story within your memories – and learning how to begin telling it.
Between them, Michael and Peter have spent decades researching lives, interviewing fascinating people and turning real experiences into compelling stories. Michael has written more than 13 books, with history and the stories of people at the heart of much of his work, while Peter has profiled figures from Bob Dylan and Nina Simone to Barry Humphries and Harrison Ford, and ghost-written memoirs for Cadel Evans, Bud Tingwell, James Hird and others.
Over almost six hours, they’ll share the principles, techniques and practical approaches they use themselves: how to identify the story worth telling, research it, find your voice, shape a narrative, make choices about what to include – and finally put that first paragraph on the page.
All in the extraordinary surrounds of the historic Old Macaroni Factory in Hepburn Springs, accompanied by superb local food and wine.
Come with a story. Leave knowing how you might begin it.
Morning Tea, working lunch by Chef Ben at Lotte, and wine provided.
