The walk is on an old fire trail, fairly even gradient. We walk through a Scribbly Gum forest with streams that feed Rayners Lake. There are areas of subtropical and warm temperate rainforest. This is part of the outer rim of the Tweed Caldera from volcanic activity 21 million years ago.
There is an option to walk a round trip on a steeper gradient, 4.3 km with 123m elevation gain in the circuit.

Our leader is John Tann and he invites us all to contribute to discussions.
