@tlantis: A live Audio Comedy Drama

Smart technology. Bad parenting. Aggravated lobsters. Welcome to @tlantis.

@lantis: Data Protection is an increasingly relevant story about the ways artificial intelligence is reshaping how we create, learn, communicate and avoid writing our own assignments. In the futuristic underwater city of @lantis, a lonely teenage AI and a series of impressively bad decisions unleash a data-security disaster involving plagiarism, blackmail, wormholes and aggravated lobsters—which is, to be fair, essentially a normal day at Ponderlust Laboratories. Stephen B. Platt’s fast-paced science-fiction comedy takes aim at urgent questions of privacy, authorship, trust and responsibility. As AI becomes increasingly embedded in our lives, where does programming end and parenting begin—and who is responsible when the smartest member of the family goes rogue? Presented as a staged radio play, the production features performers from EGL304 Production Showcase, with creative and production support from students in CRE211 Intermediate Entertainment Technology, alongside guest performers from Perth’s professional theatre and comedy scenes. Join us at Nexus Theatre on 6 and 7 November at 7.00 pm for a sharply funny exploration of AI, human responsibility and why giving a moody teenager access to an entire computer network is rarely a sound security strategy.
